Though Curaçao is a pretty small island, you will be amazed by its diversity.
Roughly you can divide the island in three parts: East of Willemstad (which is the capital city),
Willemstad itself and West of Willemstad.
Most of the large holiday accommodations and casino’s are situated East of Willemstad and
for a reason. Beautiful beaches (such as Jan Thiel and Barbara Beach), tourist attractions
(Seaquarium, Ostrich Farm, historical downtown of Willemstad and the nightlife of famous Mambo Beach)
are close by.
On this part of the island the beautiful Kas di Bula is situated in the luxury and upscale
neighbourhood of Girouette. Very tranquil but only 5 minutes away from the main circle road around Willemstad
and therefore very centrally located.
West of Willemstad you will enter the pastures of Curaçao with its green hills, beautiful flora and
fauna and peaceful way of life. Beautiful mansions, small country roads, salty flats with flamingo’s
and sleepy villages are a contrast to the city of Willemstad.
The most important attractions of this side of the island are the cosy and mostly sandy beaches in
small coves and the National Park ‘Christoffel’. Beside the historical citycenter of Willemstad, this
park is the second Unesco World Heritage site on the island.
On this part of the island, divers, snorkellers and beach lovers will meet each other. Exactly in the
geographical centre of Curaçao, the rustic villa ‘Kas ku Palma’ is situated and is, therefore, a very
good base to explore the west side of the island. It is part of the area called ‘Grote Berg’ which means
‘Big Mountain’. But don’t expect snow here… as its highest punt reaches 100 meters (300 feet) only. This area
is also very central to the shops of Willemstad (7-8 minutes by car) so don’t worry about the groceries,
the restaurants and the tax free shopping! On the other hand the famous beaches of Cas Abao,
Porto Mari or Daaibooi are about the same distance.
Choosing a villa of VillaCuracao means you will have a great villa with upscale luxury anyway, but a complete
different atmosphere.
If you want to combine both villa’s in our ‘Best of Curaçao’-package, we will transfer your bags to your
second villa while you are enjoying a beach, dive site or when exploring the city. And of course you will pay
the final cleaning only once per total stay.
